Plant Shift

love ♥ living ♥ vegan

Following a plant-based or vegan lifestyle, is about food, drink, clothes, shoes, body treatments, hair products and more.

It's a conscious decision to think, walk and possibly, talk a better lifestyle.

I support individuals who are thinking about making the shift, as well as, those who have already begun their plant-based journey.

Scoff Sweets

I had heard about Scoff Sweets on Twitter and then I had the pleasure of attending an event, in which they provided a selection of their Truffles and Fudge. Many of us kept hovering around the table because we wanted more! :)
Below you'll find an interview which will tell you more out more about Scoff Sweets.

What does Scoff specialise in selling?

Scoff sells vegan fudge and chocolate truffles. We have a variety of flavours in our range, including ginger fudge, amaretto truffles and even a soya free coconut based fudge. Being vegan, it means our products are free from dairy and eggs which is important for those with allergies, and we also make sure everything is gluten free as well.

What inspired you to create a business that solely focuses on vegan sweets?

Well I've been vegan for 17 years so when I thought about setting up my own business it was always going to be vegan! I spent quite a long time thinking about the sort of products that I could sell. I was often messing around in my kitchen trying to come up with recipes. I've always believed that there is a need for treats for vegans that tastes just as good as the non-plant-based goodies. One day, I tried a vegan fudge, and it turned out so well that I thought it could be the product. I realised that there were some lovely artisan fudges out there in the mainstream market, but there's hardly any non-dairy fudges available, and certainly not much choice in terms of different flavours. So that's where Scoff comes in; giving vegans and people with allergies lots of choice of scrummy treats.

Are you owned by, or in partnership with, another company that does test on animals or sell non-vegan products?

We are not owned or in partnership with any other company. We are a totally independent small business.

Tell me a bit about yourselves before you launched this company

I've worked in environmentalism for 14 years, working on issues such as carbon and ecological footprinting, sustainable lifestyles and waste management. I loved my job, however, I'd always dreamt of being my own boss and working in the food sector somehow. After I had my daughter I just felt it was now or never, if I went back to my old job I would never have the time to set up a new business. So I took the plunge and decided I wouldn't go back and would have to make Scoff work!

What is your vision for the future of Scoff Sweets?

Well I'm currently able to supply fudge and chocolate truffles all over the UK through my website, but in the future I hope to grow the business so that I have a wider range of products. We're currently working on some new ideas, possibly marshmallows or macarons. I'd also like to start supplying to other retailers as well. Long term I just hope that there is a much wider choice of lovely foods for vegans and people with allergies.

We had some bags of fudge delivered about a week or so ago. Yum yum! Do let me know if you try any. :)
